Feeding systems

For more efficiency in production

Our core competence is feeding technology. We rely on proven components: Our step feeder is one of the feeding systems that is most widely used. They are characterized by a well-thought-out construction, optimal feeding performance and high reliability. The gentle handling of the conveyed parts, a low noise pollution and the fulfillment of special requirements round off the advantages. Our step feeders are primarily used for pre-sorting and dosed loading of our VIBROLINER.

The VIBROLINER is the heart of the technology at IFSYS. Thanks to a wide variant of sizes and many integration options, the use of VIBROLINERS in our feeding systems is the basis for optimum quality and reliability in part feeding. With the use of a VIBROLINER, parts feeding is gentle and quiet. Compared to other linear vibratory conveyors, the VIBROLINER has a low profile as well as the ability to utilize exchange tooling.

The IFSYS storage systems are the solution for manual loading, which is possible on multiple tracks and on multiple levels. Suitable for combination with the IFSYS separation and test systems.

Lift systems

The slimline IFSYS lift systems require minimal space and are suitable for all lifting heights and traversing speeds. Design with minimal drop heights, maximum part protection and low noise emissions.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about IFSYS

What is meant by feeding technology?

Feeding technology refers to mechanical or automated systems that feed components in an organized, reliable, and correctly oriented manner into the production process. It ensures that parts can be processed precisely and increases efficiency in production lines.

IFSYS solutions are flexible and can also perform additional functions such as measuring, testing, weighing, counting, or packaging. Development, design, and manufacturing are carried out entirely in-house – Made in Germany.

What types of feeding systems does IFSYS offer?

IFSYS develops and manufactures a variety of feeding systems to meet different requirements. These include, among others:

  • Step conveyors

  • Vibroliner®

  • Magnetic feeding systems

  • Tube and bar feeding systems

  • Ball feeding systems

  • Spiral conveyors

  • Storage systems

  • Lift systems

In addition, IFSYS offers:

  • Standard feeding systems such as step conveyors, linear sorting systems, spiral conveyors, and feeding bowls with radial sorting

  • Special solutions for sensitive components (e.g., contacts or raw magnets) as well as for large or heavy parts like bearing blanks or cast parts

  • Flexible feeding systems for frequently changing products and systems with optical sorting technology

  • Custom systems such as conveyors for tubes and bars, ball feeders, planar storage units, magazine systems, or palletizing systems

Each system is individually tailored to the components, cycle times, and production processes.

Which components can be processed with IFSYS feeding systems?

IFSYS feeding systems can be designed for almost all types of components. Each of our systems is individually adapted and optimized.

Our standard range includes:

  • Screws

  • Nuts

  • Balls

  • Rods

  • Tubes

  • Magnets

  • Electronic components

  • Plastic parts

  • Metal parts

  • Rubber parts

  • Springs

  • Complex mechanical components

Even asymmetrical parts or those with challenging centers of gravity can be handled reliably. With optical sorting technology, products with changing or complex geometries can also be sorted precisely and flexibly.

For which component shapes are the systems suitable?

The systems are flexible and can handle components ranging from small, lightweight parts to large, heavy ones – from delicate electronic contacts to large sheet metal parts. The maximum size depends on the chosen feeding system.

Whether round, square, flat, or complexly shaped components made of metal, plastic, or other materials, each system is individually adapted to the shape, weight, and material of the parts.

In which industries is IFSYS feeding technology used?

The systems are used in numerous industries, including:

  • Automotive industry
  • Electrical engineering
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Medical technology
  • Plastics industry
  • Furniture industry
  • Food industry
  • Agriculture
  • Consumer goods production
  • Packaging industry

They are particularly suitable for applications where high precision, speed, and process reliability are required.

What is a step conveyor, and what is it used for?

A step conveyor transports components as bulk material using movable sliding plates and delivers them in a controlled manner to subsequent systems, for example, to a Vibroliner®.

Opposing sliding movements ensure uniform and precise dosing. Step conveyors are particularly suitable for applications where gentle and controlled component feeding is required.

What other names are there for a step conveyor?

The step conveyor is also known as a step lift conveyor, step pusher, or step plate conveyor. All terms describe the same feeding system, which transports components in an orderly and gentle manner. It operates quietly, offers variable discharge heights with an ergonomic filling height, and is often used for pre-sorting or dosed feeding of the Vibroliner®.

What is a Vibroliner® and where is it used?

A Vibroliner® is a linear, vibration-based feeding system that gently separates, aligns, and reliably delivers components to subsequent processes via a sorting chicane mounted on a vibrating track. Low-frequency vibrations move the parts in a controlled manner along the sorting rail—without jamming and with minimal stress. The system is flexible for different component sizes, cycle times, and storage requirements. Interchangeable sorting rails enable quick changeovers.

Vibroliners® are used wherever precise, reliable, and gentle feeding is required.

What are other terms used for the Vibroliner®?

The Vibroliner® is also referred to as:

  • Vibratory feeder

  • Vibro feeding system

  • Linear feeder

The basic principle is the same: components are transported and aligned using controlled vibration.

Can feeding systems be customized?

Yes. All IFSYS systems are individually tailored to the customer’s requirements.

This includes, for example:

  • Special component shapes or materials
  • Individual cycle times

  • Integration into existing production lines

  • Space-saving or modular system designs

What advantages do IFSYS feeding systems offer?

  • High reliability and precision

  • Gentle handling of components

  • Low susceptibility to malfunctions

  • Flexible adaptation to production processes

  • Low noise levels

  • Energy-saving and efficient

  • Easy integration thanks to modular design

  • Technology transfer from the automotive industry, applicable to other sectors

What is a tube and rod feeding system?

A tube and rod feeding system automatically aligns elongated components such as tubes, rods, or profiles and reliably delivers them to the production process.

The systems can be flexibly adapted to different diameters and lengths and can achieve feeding rates of up to 120 parts per minute.

What is a ball feeding system?

A ball feeding system ensures that balls or other round components are automatically aligned, dosed, and gently transferred to assembly or testing systems.

The systems can be adjusted for different ball diameters and are available as single- or multi-lane systems.

What is a spiral conveyor system?

A spiral conveyor system transports components along a spiral-shaped conveyor track and is particularly suitable for space-saving transport between different heights.

IFSYS spiral conveyors can be cylindrical, stepped, or conical in design and are made of steel, stainless steel, or plastic, depending on the application.

What is a storage system?

A storage system stores components between production steps and ensures a continuous supply of materials. Parts are stacked in a magazine and then individually fed as needed. Loading is usually done manually. This solution is particularly suitable for sensitive components or parts that are not suitable for bulk handling.

What is a lift system?

A lift system transports components between different levels of a production line. It enables space-saving and gentle material flow and can be combined with other feeding systems.

What does “everything from a single source” mean at IFSYS?

“Everything from a single source” means that IFSYS takes care of the entire process: planning, development, manufacturing, and integration of the feeding technology. Customers receive complete, perfectly coordinated systems.

This vertical range of manufacture, coupled with our wide selection of different systems, makes us the ideal partner when it comes to feeding components of all kinds.
